Measure a carburetor for engine tuning (tutorial) This is required, to enable calculation of the fuel flow. It is relevant to two-stroke tuning, four-stroke tuning, and general engine tuning. The information will assist with the carburettor adjustment, and the selection of carburettor components. Instructions Measure the carburettor bore or throat, to determine the travel distance of the throttle valve slider. Note: The throttle valve slider can often travel an additional 1mm. The carburettor needle is measured, to determine the length from notch 1, to the tip of the needle. (notch 1 is closest to the needle point) The circlip is repositioned to notch 2. This determines the size of the notch gap - the distance between notches. The notches are counted. The circlip is placed on notch 1, and the needle is placed in the throttle slider. Measure the length of the needle projecting from the slider. This is the 'active' needle length. This is the part of the needle that governs the fuel flow. You will need these measurements when working with the Needle Carb Fuel Mapperâ„¢. To download the carburettor tuning software, go to ******
